FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Using a Brick Oven

How long does it really take to cook a pizza?

This is number one of all frequently asked questions. And the answer is once your oven is truly up to temperature, it only takes about 90 seconds to cook a pizza to perfection. Additonally, your oven floor should be about 700 degrees.

Check out our YouTube channel for more information.

Do I need to cure my oven?

Yes, you need to do a series of curing fires. And we provide the instructions by email once the oven has shipped.

How long does the oven take to heat up?

The oven takes 40-75 minutes to heat up to 900 degrees depending on the oven size and wood dryness.  And 900 degrees is the ceiling and wall temperature.  The floor temperature for pizza should be about 700 degrees.

Can you cook food other than pizza in the wood-fired oven?

Yes, you can make anything you would cook in a regular oven, grill, or smoker.

How long does the oven retain heat?

Our ovens will retain heat for several days.  Of course, it depends on how hot it was too. They retain heat very well, cooling slowly. This allows you to stage food and even use the heat the following day! Like on day one, you could cook wings for an appetizer before you start the pizzas.

Is it normal to see small cracks in my oven?

Yes, it is completely normal to see tiny thermal cracking. This will not affect your oven’s performance.

What kind of wood can you use?

Most hardwoods work very well, with oak being the most common. DO NOT use 2×4 lumber or sap woods, like pine.

How do you check the temperature?

You should purchase an infrared gun for temperature monitoring.  They are very inexpensive and can help you monitor your floor, walls and dome temperatures to ensure proper cooking temperatures for consistent pizza outcomes.

You can find them on most websites, like Amazon.

How long will my brick oven last?

Our ovens will last decades if properly cured. Every oven comes with a 3-year warranty and curing instructions.

How long will my oven take to build?

The oven lead time is generally 8 to 12 weeks from the date we get your deposit.

How will my oven be shipped?

Your oven will be shipped in a protected plywood crate and delivered by a private carrier.  Check out our shipping page for more information.

Where do you ship?

Our ovens can be shipped anywhere within the United States.
